    During clear day VRF flight conditions the airplanes collided virtually head-on at an altitude of 4,500 feet. The Mooney, and its fatally injured solo pilot continuing approximately one mile north of the collision point to ground impact. Due to the lack of witnesses, the accident was not initially identified as a midair collision.
